Front Entry Doors

Doors come in a multitude of Sizes and Materials. Doors are provided for ingress and egress to Buildings, Trailers, Cars, Trucks or other enclosed spaces, which are different than Gates. Here we will confine our information on Doors for Buildings.

The Building Codes determine the Type and Door Sizes allowed to be installed in Buildings. You will need to review the Building Code to verify what Type and Size of Door is permitted to be installed, where you want. Exterior Doors are available to provide protection against invasion, fire, winds, storms, and other elements. It is important to properly select your Exterior Doors. Similarly, Interior Doors need to be well considered. For example, Doors that separate a house from a garage is usually required to be fire rated. In certain Offices uses, Doors may need to be fire rated and others may be required to sound proof. Sound proof Doors are not normally regulated by the Code, as are the fire rated Doors.

Doors are a very important components of a building. They serve as a means of securing your building and sets the theme of the building, whether they are Interior or Exterior Doors.

The Main Door that provides access to a Building is the Exterior Entry Doors.
It is usually the most attractive Door in the Building. Interior Doors are those Doors located inside of a building. The other Exterior Doors are usually the secondary access Doors to the Building. Garage Doors can be Doors that access the garage of a house, or the Doors that provide access to the automobile maintenance shop, or loading dock of a warehouse, etc. Other Doors can be screen Doors, sliding Doors, revolving Doors, etc.

There are as many different types of Doors, as there are materials used to make them.

Doors come in a multitude of styles and finishes. Standard Doors are manufactured either hollow core or solid core. Other Doors, such as, security Doors are usually metal. See the Section under Door Types for a full description of the various Types of Doors.
